I am a researcher in Biostatistics and Genetic Epidemiology at the Eurac Research Institute for Biomedicine, in Bolzano, Italy (my official page).
After receiving a MSc degree in Statistics and Economical Sciences at the University of Padova (1999), my experience in medical statistics and epidemiology has further developed at the Unit of Epidemiology & Medical Statistics of the University of Verona, under the leadership of Roberto de Marco. I deepened my understanding of statistical genetics at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health under the mentorship of Giovanni Parmigiani, obtaining a PhD in Biomedical Statistics at the University of Milano in 2006. In the same year, I joined the Eurac Research Institute for Biomedicine where, since 2013, I am group leader of the Biostatistics & Epidemiology group. For several years, I have been teaching genetics of complex diseases at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milano. My job is to identify and develop statistical and epidemiological methods to address problems arising from medicine, biology, and genetics. Recent fields of research are: genetic epidemiology of kidney function and cardiovascular health; linkage disequilibrium; statistical issues in genetic research when population-based studies with relatedness structures are concerned. |
